Grow Greater Shepparton debuted its youth jobs tab on Wednesday at the Youth Workforce Development Summit in Shepparton, with the goal of assisting young people in finding work.
Young job searchers in the area will have access to a centralized online portal where they may look for employment and promote themselves to potential employers.
Bec Costa-Lowe, chief executive of the Goulburn Murray Local Learning and Employment Network, said the organization had conducted extensive research across the province, reaching out to both young people and companies before issuing a report.
“Definitely, there are some job opportunities that perfectly suit the interests of the youth, but the biggest challenge is that even the young job seekers are mostly newbies and they don’t really comprehend how to apply for these positions. to link up and fill those vacant job positions.
She claimed that young people were confused about how to hunt for work and were forced to use several sites.
The study made four major suggestions, the first being the establishment of a youth employment tab.
Other ideas included expanding rural career education to enable young people to engage with employees in schools, as well as promoting vocational routes to guarantee that each and every youth leaves school work-ready.
Grow Tawnee Vocale, Greater Shepparton team support officer, said she was thrilled to unveil the new area of the organization’s website, which will be open to the public.
” “There will be tabs for what firms are seeking, resume writing tips, and how to prepare for an interview,” she stated.
” Businesses or industries may use this as a framework to promote available vacancies or assist young people seeking work.”
She stated that positions will be broken down more plainly than on existing job-search websites, citing comments that many youths were perplexed by flowery wording in job descriptions.
” It is further separated into the employer’s primary responsibilities or tasks, the appropriate dress code, and the most qualified applicant for the position, she said.
” The employee’s profile page is a fantastic way for young people to post their credentials and a brief introduction, where potential employers may click on it and review the other candidates.”
